I was born in Cardiff and moved with my family to Wolverhampton when I was nine.
At 20, I joined the diplomatic service and was posted to West Berlin, Kathmandu and Bangkok; my last assignment was in Sir Geoffrey Howe’s Private Office. In 1985, I had a change of direction and moved to the City of London where I worked for a number of investment banks, including a five-year period as Business Analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston. I left in order to to adopt, as a single parent, a four year-old little girl of English and Bangladeshi origin.
In 2011, my daughter and I emigrated to the United States where we live, with my husband, in San Antonio, Texas.
